Winter farmer’s market

This sunday we decided it was a good day to visit the farmer’s market.  Any day without rain is a good day for the market.  Unbeknownst to me until a month ago, the Hillsdale farmer’s market runs through the winter months every other week.  There isn’t a ton of variety since it is the winter, but everything is local and fresh, so what could be better?

I left with some collard greens, kale and a rutabaga (my new favorite root veggie) from Gathering Together Farm who we got our CSA from for the past two years.  We’ll probably throw those into a curry or stir-fry.  Laird had fun sampling the fresh apples, apple cider and vegan rice pudding.

Hopefully at our next visit to the market, Kookoolan farms will be there and I can get my ingredients for homemade cheese.  Yum.

An apple a day....
